In February 2010 the Dodge Viper was nearly swept into extinction. The serpentine super car that was modern interpretation of the famed AC Cobra Daytona Coupe that debuted in 1992 ended its 18 year production run amid rumors that the Viper brand could be sold off. The new Viper will drop the Dodge moniker and will be simply known as SRT (Street and Racing Technology).
The new Viper is said to borrow styling ques from the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. Something that SRT brand manager, Ralph Gilles, has tried to repute, “The new Viper is not based on anything else… The Viper cabin is very rearward and the hood is very long. Few cars in the industry are designed with those proportions anymore. However, the leaked teaser images bear a strong resemblance to the Alfa 8C.
