1964 Mustang On the Street in Baltimore

1964 Mustang Baltimore Ed Crowl

Those of you who’ve driven on North Rolling Road in Baltimore, Maryland  have probably noticed a maroon, 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang parked “On the Street”. The pony car belongs to Ed Crowl, 70, who bought it in 1977 and drove it until 2006.

“My first car was a 1965 Mustang, so when I found out about the 1964 1/2 I couldn’t resist,” said the longtime Catonsville resident

Crowl, an antiques dealer and owner of the Wagon Wheel in Ellicott City, also played the clarinet for the Baltimore Colts Marching Band for 30 years. “I got to march at the 1958 (NFL) Championship (game), ‘The Greatest Game Ever Played,’ in New York,” he said. He recollections of marching for the Colts were included in part in a recent episode of ESPN’s 30 by 30.

The 289 ci V8 powered coupe has seen better days. Crowl said he used to travel to Ocean City for Mustang rallies and car shows that often included 2,000 Mustang enthusiasts, but today the car car sits in dire need of repair and its time it moved on to a new owner. He said he has received more than 60 calls about his Mustang, “But no buyers yet.” He’s asking $2,500 for the car.

We are happy to see that Crowl is willing to part with the car. Most nostalgic owners let their cars sit for far too long, till the cars are no longer candidates for repair. If you ask us, it always best to hold on to the memories and sale the car.
